The inaugural programme featured a mesmerizing flute performance by Shri Rakesh Chaurasia. Rakesh, a prodigy from a distinguished musical lineage, is a prominent disciple of the legendary flute player, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. His exceptional talent and unwavering dedication have established him as a remarkable artist. Rakesh Chaurasia has showcased his prowess on the global stage, enthralling audiences at classical and semi-classical music festivals worldwide, including Japan, Australia, Europe, South Africa, and the United States. His virtuosity extends to collaborations with leading figures in the Indian film industry. Notably, Rakesh Chaurasia was also invited to conclude a twenty-four-hour live music broadcast on BBC Radio, celebrating the Silver Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, signifying his stature on the international stage. While he has ventured into experimental genres, Rakesh Chaurasia remains dedicated to his primary goal of becoming a complete classical musician. His performances at prominent festivals like the WOMAD Festival in Athens, 'Festivals of India' across Russia, Japan, the USA, and Europe, attest to his growing maturity and recognition in the music world. He received accolades such as the Indian Music Academy Award from the Honourable President of India, Shri A.P.J Abdul Kalam, in 2007, the Birla Kalakiran Award in 2008, and the Guru Shishya Award in 2011.He was accompanied on Tabla by Shri Mithilesh Kumar Jha. Mithilesh received his early training from his father, Gopikant Jha, and later studied under the guidance of the renowned sarod maestro, Amjad Ali Khan. Mithilesh has consistently performed alongside vocalists and instrumentalists in India and abroad.
