Virasat – Thirty Years Together
For thirty years, anyone could walk into Virasat. That openness is how it became Dehradun’s own festival: a place where a Bharat Ratna and a village singer share the same fortnight, and where a family could stay from the afternoon bazaar to the last note of the night.
This October the festival moves to a new home at the Himalayan Cultural Centre, with a larger programme than ever. Hosting it well now means knowing how many of you are with us each day, so that the grounds are safe, the crowd moves easily, and water, seating, first aid and help are planned for the real number of visitors rather than a guess.
That is why, for the first time, Virasat has an entry ticket, at ₹50 a day. It opens the whole festival arena: the Amphitheatre stage, folk performances, literary conversations, the art gallery, the crafts bazaar and the food festival.
The evening concerts in the Auditorium are the one part with a separate entry. Seats there are limited, and the Auditorium ticket helps us bring and host the artists who fill it with the care they deserve.
Virasat remains what it has always been: yours.
We look forward to welcoming you.
